So we’ve put together some useful information about what to do, where to go, how to get around and what you need to know while you’re here with us.
Before you travel
Getting to gooseberry residences
Upon your arrival at the Cheddi B. Jagan International Airport, Timehri, you have a few options to make that 30-minute drive to Providence or Herstelling and Gooseberry Residences.
You can take an Airport Taxi. At the airport, there are registered airport taxi drivers who are always present to shuttle visitors to their destinations. You will identify these persons by their white shirt-jacks and ID badges.
You can take a Private Hire Taxi. These private-hire taxi drivers will approach you the moment you exit the arrival gate and ask if you need a lift. They are usually dressed in casual clothing
You can take a MiniBus. These are usually the cheaper alternatives but do involve a wait time to load passengers. Mini-busses usually are destined for a general bus park in the heart of the city. Except for mini-buses, taxis usually charge GY $5,000.00 – GY $7,000.00 for trips from the airport to the city.
Directions. If you’ve arranged for your transportation, try using Google Map to get directions.
Alternatively, you can instruct your driver to take you to our address at 1048, Block V, Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, Guyana.

With a population encompassing cultures as varied as Indian, African and indigenous Amerindian, Guyana is a place brimming with nature, and our diverse culture gives rise to a wide assortment of ethnic foods.

After you’ve had your day filled with fun, it’s time to check the vibrant and diverse night entertainment that awaits you. Sights
It’s also a country committed to sustainable tourism. Guyana attracts about 280,000 visitors annually due to its spectacular natural and man-made landscapes.
Just a stone’s throw away around the city you can see a plethora of national and cultural monuments, colonial-style buildings, recreational parks and botanical gardens. Venture out of the city and you can get a glimpse into Guyana’s past when you visit one of our colonial forts. Our rainfall gradient provides a treat for the visual senses of visitors.
Visit the spectacular Kaieteur Falls – the world’s largest single drop waterfall by volume, particularly during the rainy season. Enjoy the sunset from the waters of the Essequibo River at Baganara Lodge.

Shopping
A short bus or car ride will take you downtown to the Regent Street Area which is at the heart of Georgetown’s shopping district. Movement in any direction on or away from Regent Street will lead you to retail and wholesale outlets that carry a range of local and foreign goods for personal adornment, consumption and or for use as gifts. Craft lovers, for local, unique and intricately fabricated pieces a visit to the Hibiscus Plaza is a must!
